Hi, I’m Gerit.

I design digital platforms for culture, knowledge, and public infrastructure.

I work at the intersection of information architecture, product thinking, and institutional complexity — building systems that are clear, coherent, and built to last.

Kin & Signs · Web Application

A Personal AI Experiment

2026 · Personal Project · My Role → Concept, Product Thinking, AI-assisted Design & Development

Context

Not every project starts with a client brief. This one started with a question: what does it feel like to move from idea to working product through AI-assisted workflows and tooling?

Kin & Signs is a small web app based on the Chinese zodiac. Users add family members by name and birthdate, and the app calculates each person's animal sign and element. From there, Claude generates playful, warm relationship readings for any two people filtered by life phase, from childhood to old age.

The project became less about astrology and more about understanding how AI changes the relationship between concept, prototyping, and implementation.

Try it

To generate readings, you need your own Anthropic API key.

Roederstein-Jughenn Archive · Online Archive

Translating 80 years of an artist's estate into a navigable digital archive

2024–2025 · Design Agency · My Role → Concept, UX/UI Design

Context

A digital archive documenting the life and network of painter Ottilie W. Roederstein (1859–1937), spanning biography, correspondence, exhibition history, and 1,685 archival items. The challenge was structuring richly interconnected historical material into an experience that works for both researchers and casual visitors. This project was created in collaboration with Zum Kuckuck, Würzburg and Städel Museum, Frankfurt.

gamesmap · Web Application

Making Germany’s games industry visible

2025–2026 · Association of the German Games Industry · My Role → Product Design Lead, Information Architecture

Context

A geographic platform mapping companies across Germany's games industry, enabling regional analysis for industry associations, policymakers, and individual companies. Structurally related to Kulturkataster, but applied to a commercial context. Demonstrating that the same map-first, filter-based architecture works across very different domains and audiences.

Context

A long-term product engagement (2018–today) developing and evolving a media guide platform deployed across Bauhaus Dessau, Hamburger Kunsthalle, Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and others. I believe the most important design decisions happen before any screen is drawn. In how you structure information, define relationships between content, and decide what the system needs to hold. My focus is long-term platform thinking: the kind of design work that stays useful after launch, particularly where knowledge, culture, and public life intersect.
